Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

Are your album cover designs exclusive?

Our covers designs are exclusive. Which means no other musician, artist, or label, will be able to use the cover you have chosen after the moment you buy it. As soon as you make the purchase, your cover will automatically become unavailable for other customers in our catalogue. The pre-personalized version stays on the website as reference, tagged as sold, and becomes unavailable to any other artist.

No, because as soon as your purchase your cover it is automatically deleted from our catalogue. We know your music is unique, so your cover has to be unique as well. However as almost all album covers today are made with stock photos, you might bump into similar elements on another cover. But since we modify each image you will never be able to find the exact same visual on any cover.

How long will it take for my cover to be delivered?

A minute if not few seconds! The cover is ready to be downloaded after you purchase it and apply the necessary edits. This is one of the aspects that makes AlbumCoverZone unique! As soon as you choose an album cover that suits your needs and press “REMAKE COVER”, you will directly see the changes in the preview window on the website. Our AI engine analyses your title, your name and creates the best typographic composition possible. You can experiment as many times as you want. You are free to manipulate them in the future as well, if and when the need arises.

Can I see a mockup of my cover before purchase?

Yes, you can see as many mockups as you want of your album cover. You can try different titles as well as different designs. The mockups are not just frontal views, but they are also 3D mockups and tablet views. Just head over to the cover you want, insert your texts and press REMAKE COVER. Your mockups will appear instantly!

What format will my cover be produced in?

Once you purchase your album cover, you get direct download links in JPG and PNG. JPG will do for most of the major music stream platforms

What languages are supported on the designs?

Basically every album cover using the Latin alphabet can be made. However bear in mind that not all fonts used on the covers support modified letters used in many languages. Feel free to try out your cover in other languages as well; and in case if you have a problem with the typography, feel free to contact us, so we can work specifically on your album cover.

Can I use the cover I purchase on Spotify, iTunes and other platforms?

Yes! You can use our covers on all music streaming platforms such as Spotify, iTunes, etc., they are prepared to the standards of these platforms. Once you purchase an album cover you can download it without the watermark and it comes as 2400x2400px size which is suitable for most music streaming platforms. In case if you need a larger or a smaller size of your album cover design, feel free to contact us.

Can I use the cover for the printed version of my album?

Yes! All covers on the website have high-resolution, so that they can be used both in digital and printed formats. You are able to download your cover in 2400 x 2400 px or 3000 x 3000 px, which corresponds to 20 x 20 cm when printed. This size will be more than enough for most standards. You can also resize your album cover to use in larger sizes, but bear in my mind, you will lose some quality if you do this. However, if you really need a larger image, contact us and we’ll work on a custom size for you.

Why should I choose you?

Mostly because we hope you enjoy our designs, but also because we are one of the most experienced album cover design agencies in the market today. Our designers have designed thousands of covers for released albums in a span of over 20 years. We know what sells, we know what the market wants, and we know what the artist expects. Our online engine is an innovative tool ideal for independent musicians, podcasters and labels. Getting results here is fast; your cover will be ready in a matter of seconds thanks to our intelligent cover generator.

Can I change the title and other texts of my cover after I have bought it?

The covers you have bought through our Premade Covers section will always stay in your shopping bag. You are free to manipulate them, whenever the need arises. For custom made covers you will need a graphic designer’s help; so a small fee of $25 will apply for each revision round in case you need some manipulation.

Design and Customization

What makes a good album cover design?

Good album covers help the audience to visually discover new music. They give the audience some expectation, they promise satisfaction and they leave space for curiosity by following, bending or breaking visual rules.

Why is this page only focused on album cover designs?

Because album designing is a genuine and independent branch that requires a designer to be able to communicate with a specific kind of audience. It requires expertise and experience in the industry, and the designer’s familiarity of the tastes and expectations of the bodies in the industry (record stores and labels, streaming platforms, media and the audience). Album designing is a subdivision of the design realm and is a branch of visual design that has a long heritage, numerous traditions and a unique design language. Album designing is communicating with an audience through the visual aesthetics of music and is therefore accepted as a unique discipline.

Copyright and License

What’s the difference between the copyright and licence?

Holding the copyright of the image and obtaining a licence for the image are two different things. If you are the copyright holder, the image is yours to use wherever and however you want. You may even alter the image as you will. However, normally only the creator of the image is the copyright holder. When you purchase a cover from AlbumCoverZone, you don’t become the copyright holder of the image – you get a license right to use it.

What are the rights I am buying when I purchase a cover from you?

Once you purchase a cover from us, you receive the license right to use it for commercial purposes, and you get access to unlimited edits, downloads and resizing rights. All of our pictures are royalty free non exclusive stock photographs and art. There is no limit on when you display it in a digital context such as for streaming websites, or applications, but often there is an upper limit of 500,000 physical copies sold. If physical copies exceed the limit of 500,000, then you will have to get an extended license for the stock photo/image we used, directly from the original creator.

Are you using stock images?

Yes. All of our pictures are royalty free non exclusive stock photograph and art. While most of our covers include stock from paid content providers like Shutterstock, istockphoto and others, we always are on the lookout for images and will on occasion choose images from stock photography sites like Pexels and similar where attribution is not required and the images are free. Regardless, we apply treatments to images from both sources equally for them to gain a unique character of their own within our designs. The rule of the house at AlbumCoverZone is that every cover must be unique, because your music is unique too. That is why we apply big alterations on each one of the images we use, thus there is never the same exact visual on any cover. However, as the majority of album covers today are made with stock photos, there is the possibility that you bump into similar visual elements in other covers out there in the world.

Do I have to obtain the licence of the image used in my album cover?

Yes, you need to obtain the license rights to be able to use it for commercial reasons. And for that reason when you purchase a cover from AlbumCoverZone, you directly receive the license rights of the image.

What are the restrictions on my cover?

License Duration: Perpetual

Regions of Use: Worldwide

Digital Use (websites, mobile apps, software, etc.): Unlimited

Print Runs (in albums/books/magazines, on posters, etc.): Up to 500,000

Out-of-home Advertising (trade show/conference signage, billboards, subway ads, etc.): Up to 500,000 gross impressions (views, not viewers)

Purchasing & Payments

What is your returns/refund policy?

In order to protect the musician, artist or label, AlbumCoverZone makes all their sales final. No refunds are given.

Our policy is to sell each cover only once, moving it automatically out of sale, and giving the buyer full access to the cover without the watermark. Since an album cover has to stay unique, we cannot allow different users to download the same cover, even twice. That could lead to two musicians having the same album cover being what’s written on them the only difference between the two not anymore unique covers. Only the musician that buys the one time available cover has the possibility to download it unlimited times and in different versions.

Therefore, please make sure you want the cover. If you are not 100% sure, we recommend you to not purchase it.

Do I have to pay for the stock image?

No, all stock images are included in the price. When you purchase a premade cover you pay one price for both the design and the images used in the design. On custom made covers you might also need more than one image, that’s also included. We generally use iStock.com, so just send us the images you want on your cover and we’ll take care of the rest.
